Clean the glass. Detecting seal failure in an insulated window is mostly a visual process. So, before you start, be sure to thoroughly clean both the inside and outside surfaces of the window. This ensures that you are not looking at grime or external moisture.
See if there is glass distortion. When the inert gas begins to gush out of the insulated unit, the panes can bend or collapse to a slight extent in the center, causing the glass to look twisted or warped, or sometimes even crack. To inspect the glass, stand at a distance outside, and look at the reflection on the window. The glass with a failed seal is more distorted than those of units that are not affected. Such deformity likely indicates that seal failure has occurred.
Check for condensation. Fogging or hazing between panes typically means that the window seal has failed. Condensation or the presence of moisture may come and go with the weather conditions. However, it is most likely to materialize when the indoor temperature is vastly different from the outdoor temperature and may disappear as temperatures or humidity levels change.
